Rawlin(g)s-Rollin(g)s Family History Association
Using the
Rawlin(g)s-Rollin(g)s Database
When I was still working as
a systems analyst, we would ask our clients for the “blue sky” version of their
requirements. It was not necessarily the product we would deliver, but it
provided a starting place and a goal. My “blue sky” for this database is to
create a repository that will allow all of the “R’s” to see their verified
genealogy in a public place. It would show us how we all are or are not
related.
One of the really great
things about this database software is that we can store photographs, scanned
images and documents. These items can be “attached” to the related person or
people. I have started adding cemeteries and headstone photographs. Later I
plan to add personal photographs and scanned items like birth announcements,
wedding invitations, newspaper clippings, funeral cards, etc.
My next task will be to extract
information contained in the R/RFHA Newsletters and enter it in a family tree
called R/RFHA Master. This is an attempt to truly organize the content of the
newsletters. At first this will result in some duplication. As an example I
have set up myself on my personal family tree and the R/RFHA Master. If you
perform a search on the name Marta Rawlings, the results show this person as
existing twice on the R/RFHA Master tree and also on my personal family tree. I
believe that even though there will be duplication of information, it will
allow us to thoroughly research these seeming duplicates to determine if they
are truly the same person. When a determination is made the information will be
recorded and/or merged into the R/RFHA Master tree.
We need to have as many
people contribute the data they have collected. To add your information to our
database, please do the following:
