Season's Greetings all...
Another great year for us, although we haven't increased
membership as much as we have done yearly in the past. I think the Internet is
giving us trouble. But whatever it takes for people to dig their
"roots" is a good thing. My only caution is that I hear increasing
complaints about the irresponsible research done by persons too eager to claim
an ancestor or line of ancestors, and in some cases, absolute prevarications.
So be careful. Double-check everything. As Wilma RAWLINGS says, she'd rather
get dusty rummaging through old files in the basements of courthouses than depend
blindly on the Internet. Since I don't have a computer nor intend to get one at
my age, I side with her and many others I have heard from.
Please excuse the look of the newsletter this month. It's a
mess. My typewriter began to act up but I thought I could finish the newsletter
without taking the time to have it fixed but finally I had had enough. So you
will find some pages are neat and others look like henscratching. Forgive me-
You will note also that I have done four more additional
pages as I promised you in September. And I have included the Renewal slips for
2001. I also noted we had only one Query, which is okay, I guess- But let us
know if you need assistance
I've been reading a lot of articles on gene research and
hope you all have, too. It is so important to develop a gene history in your
family… important to pass on the information to future generations, but to better
prepare yourselves in how to address any medical problems you may develop.
That's hardly a nice thing to sign off our Christmas issue...but have a very
happy Christmas…and a healthful, prosperous New Year.
