Dear Cousins:

Sorry I'm late. Laziness and the making of 3 quilts for friends of my sons new babies, are the reasons. It's such fun I hesitated to put the work down to do the Newsletter. I hope I'm forgiven.

Some interesting tidbits in the Newsletter this month. I hope some of you .will send more information on not only PROVINCE RAWLINGS, son of NATHAN (1750-1821), but also of the other sons BENJAMIN SCOTT, and whichever MICHAEL might be NATHAN's son. We have a lot of material on JAMES and NATHAN Jr., the other two. Also if any of you might know whether ASAHEL who and Nancy Pendergast had a son MICHAEL. I couldn't locate an item I had concerning a lawsuit brought about by the sisters of BENJAMIN, son of PROVINCE who was killed in the Civil War, which they brought against their brother NATHAN who had been appointed administrator of BENJAMIN's estate. The sisters believed NATHAN had looted the estate. As it turns out the estate amounted to just a few dollars and all the fuss was made for naught. When I locate it I will include it in a future Newsletter.

I'd like to mention as well why I include random obituaries in the Newsletters. It is done in case any of our subscribers might be able to locate a distant relative or descendant. I hope it helps.

Remember, too, as I have mentioned several times before, we print the information you send just as we receive it. If there is more than one version of the data we print both versions with an explanation. And we ask for corrections when some dates or names or places are incorrect, so don't hesitate. We all know that the further back we go in time the more chance there is of error.

I hope you all had a great summer...and that the fall and winter will be a happy season for you. Fall is my favorite time of year except I wish I lived in more northern climes because in California where I live there is no fall or spring. Ah me!
