There is a new society been formed recently which assists genealogists who would like to know about ancestors who may have been criminals, spies, robbers, bigamists and villains of all kinds, male and female. Also, for their files they would appreciate hearing from anyone who has such persons in his or her background.

International Blacksheep Society of Genealogists

One of the founders, Jeff Scism, notes that some researchers enjoy the scandals but others take deep offense and often do not believe even though the facts are proven. Some of these ancestors are not criminal, only a little weird or eccentric. Take Lady Godiva, for instance. Or Emperor Norton of San Francisco Gold Rush Days.
