a young maid in his family's household. When she left he
followed her to New York where she had emigrated. Her name was Margaret Malloy.
These two were the parents of Isabella Parker, the first wife of HARRY LEE
RAWLINS. ISABELLA was a. performer. In Cleveland she contacted pneumonia and
died while performing on-stage. It is not certain if HARRY LEE was also a
performer. (In Mary's version it was HARRY who died.) They had one son', HARRY
PARKER RAWLINS. When Isabella died he went to live with relatives in Long
Island, possibly his mother's relatives. He married Vesta Marshall and they had
one son, HARRY LEE RAWLINS II. It is his daughter who is MARY RAWLINS Miller.
When HARRY PARKER RAWLINS joined the service, he contacted tuberculosis and had
to leave it. He then could not find a job. During his tour he was sent to
Colorado so he decided to stay there. Then he and Vesta were divorced. He then
went to Canada and joined the service there and was sent to France where he was
killed in 1918 at the age of 25. He had one son born in 1917.
Back to HARRY LEE RAWLINS Sr. After Isabella died and HARRY
PARKER RAWLINS went to live with relatives, H.L. married Susan Pauline Duden.
Both Mary and Carol were correct in stating that HARRY LEE RAWLINS was an
actor, too. He died during the performance of "Girl of the Golden
West" in Chicago in 1907. The only child of Susan's and HL was a daughter
CAROLINE RAWLINS, b. Aug. 31, 1906 in New York City. A further correction on
HARRY LEE was that he came to this country with his parents and siblings
WILLIAM, GRACE, KATE and NELLIE. They are found in the New York City Census of
1880. According to the 1900 census the family emigrated in 1865 from England
when HARRY was two years old. Carol Ritsert Kennedy descends from HARRY LEE's
and Caroline Duden's daughter CAROLINE.
Your Editor thinks this is a wonderful story although it
takes some doing to fathom out the connections of each "HARRY". I
hope that Carol and Mary can get together somehow. What a lot they'll have to
talk about!

Mr. RAWLINGS wrote to ask us if we had information on a
GEORGE B. RAWLINGS Sr. & Jr., who first lived in Brunswick Co., VA, then
moved to Tennessee. Later generations moved to Illinois and to Texas. Details
to follow. The present GEORGE would like to be in contact with other descendants.
Here is his story:
GEORGE B. Sr. was born March 6, 1817. The 1850 census for
Brunswick Co., VA shows him to be aged 33. There is no official record for his
marriage to Nancy Howell, however the Wilkes Family Records indicate a marriage
to her. There is record of a marriage between him and Caroline R. Harding in
North Carolina July 17, 1839. There is no indication of which mother bore his
children, ROSE E., RICHARD and GEORGE B. Jr.
GEORGE Sr. sold the farm in Brunswick (per deed) and moved
to LaGrange, Tenn.
in 1851. He died there and was buried, May 9, 1857. Mr.
RAWLINGS could not locate his grave but said there were many RAWLINGS buried
there. He intends
to go back and do more research in the area. CAROLINE R.,
ROSE E. and GEORGE B. Jr.
