Dear Cousins:

I hoped you liked all the Revolutionary War 1776 graphics we used in this month's newsletter. I discovered them recently. But you'd be surprised how few 13-star flags there are about. And I really am mystified by the fact that the official DAR pension lists show so few veterans from the southern states. After all it was southerners like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and Harry Lee et al who were leaders in the quest for independence from Great Britain. There must be other compilations of names either by pension lists or militia and Continental Army records. We'd appreciate it if anyone has that information - state by state if necessary - so we can print it. I really like the pension information because it provides so much data about the family of each veteran.

It is great news that the Mormon Church's collection of genealogical records is now available on the Internet. The church has spent years copying public records around the world and collating them into an extensive collection which anyone, public or private, can research their ancestry. Those of us not on the Internet can still avail ourselves of the church genealogical centers in practically every city and state in this nation.

Hope you all have a happy summer ... go to the lake, the mountains, the seashore, casinos, theme parks or just hang out at home in a hammock with a barbecue grill within easy reach and iced tea-.on the table beside you.
