Carroll County, State of Illinois

On this 7th day of August A.D. 1852, personally appeared before me, a Justice

of the Peace, one James Thompson, aged thirty-five years, a resident of the County of Jo Daviess in said state, who being duly sworn according to the law upon his oath says that he was well acquainted with MICHAEL RAWLINGS in his lifetime, that he has often seen him write so is well acquainted with his handwriting, and that the record in the Bible now presented is in the Bible that he has seen used by the late MICHAEL RAWLINGS, and was called his Bible...and that this is a true copy of said record, to Wit: MICHAEL RAWLINGS and Mary Thompson were married Thursday, May the 15th, 1834." And that he knows that they, the said MICHAEL RAWLINGS and Mary Thompson aforesaid, lived together as husband and wife from the time of said marriage till his death...and that he has no doubt of the record above copied, being the handwriting of the said MICHAEL RAWLINGS. And that he, this affiant, was present at the death of the said MICHAEL RAWLINGS...that he died in the County of Jo Daviess in the state of Illinois, in the month of June A.D. 1850.

Thomas Thompson of Jo Daviess County, Illinois, being first duly sworn, deposes and says he is aged almost sixty years and has been a resident of the Township of Pleasant Valley in said Jo Daviess County for more than thirty-seven years last past..That he has personally been well acquainted with MICHAEL RAWLINGS and his wife Mary RAWLINGS, both of whom died in said Pleasant Valley Township, and was and is personally well acquainted with all the children and heirs-at-law of said Mary RAWLINGS, deceased, and that their names and Post Office addresses are as follows: ADALINE, now the wife of Stuart Morehead of Sanama (?), Carroll County, Illinois … JOHN R RAWLINGS, Sugar Creek, Benton Co., Illinois … AMANDA,

wife of William Brock, Mt. Carroll, Carroll Co., Illinois … JAMES C. RAWLINGS, Pleasant Valley, Jo Daviess Co., Illinois … JOSEPH M. RAWLINGS, Pleasant Valley, JoDaviess Co., Illinois … SUSANNA M., wife of Alex McCain of Pleasant Valley, Jo Daviess Co., Illinois … MARTHA ANN, wife of James Elliott, Pleasant Valley, Jo Daviess Co., Illinois … CAROLINE, wife of John Wilson, Wichita, Kansas... and none others. Neither are there any grandchildren, children of a deceased child. The only child of Mary RAWLINGS, deceased, that died did so at about the age of two years.
