“During the Bacon's Rebellion, ROGER RAWLINGS was taken
before the Court for assisting the rebels in crossing the river. He claimed
that this was done at gunpoint. There is no indication he was convicted.
Governor Berkeley was so fiendish in revenge of the rebels that Charles II of
England recalled him in disgust.”
Ed.Note: In 1676 Virginia planters had to defend themselves
against indian raids when Gov. Berkley did nothing. They then turned on
Berkley's troops and when caught were hanged without trial.

CALVIN RAWLINGS, md Charlotte Skene (1846-1876). They
resided in Jo Daviess Co., ILL. Charlotte died there and is buried in Deeds Cemetery.
CALVIN was living in 1889.
CRAWFORD RAWLINGS, b. 1826 in Indiana, md. Matilda Pelm;
died 1865 Gallatin Co., Ill. Children were: ASA B. (b.1850); SARAH (b.1851),
and JANE (b. 1852), according to the 1860 Saline Co., ILL census.

Co., TN. Children: NATHAN, ENOCH, WILLIAM, JOHN, POLLY, RUTHY M. (md Mr.
Shelton), and ORPHA (md. Marmaduke Lamb) . DAVID's will probated Oct. 1827, Greene
Co.

(MARY was the dtr. of JOHN RAWLINGS of the Spotsylvania Co.,
VA family, and his first wife Nancy Holladay. Several members of the Bush family
married JOHN's children, including himself who married Jane (Bush) Embree,
widow of John Embree.)
