Dear Cousins:
It's getting to be a habit my being late in getting out your
newsletter, and I apologize. I promise to do better.
I wish to thank so many of you who wrote to offer my husband
and myself your sympathy and your prayers on the health of our son David. I am
happy to report that he finally consented to the life-saving operation, and
along with your support he is on his way to a full recovery. He is on
disability at present but we hope that will not be a permanent situation. Thank
you all.
Nothing terribly new to report. Several new subscribers this
past quarter, lots of added material coming in, and for those of you who are
familiar with my husband's and my research into his gggrandfather
"mysterious JAMES" we have made small progress in that a relative has
cane up with some memories of her grandmother which illustrates that JAMES died
in Richland Co., Illinois, in 1857. Now that we know that perhaps we can trace
further. I surely hope so since we've been looking since the early 1980's.
We've been able to connect several new subscribers to their
family line, which is always a good feeling, and hope we can continue to do so
into the new century. Now that summer has slid by us we can look forward to
forgetting vacationing and starting the researching once again. I'm all for it!
One marvelous thing that happened to your editor this summer
was attending a family reunion of my father's family, the McKenna's of Ireland
and Nova Scotia, Canada. what a wonderful time it was! I met relatives I never
knew existed, and we talked and laughed and sang Irish songs, even clogged a
little. It was great fun! We're going to have another one in 5 years!!! What a
beautiful part of Canada Nova Scotia is! I think I could live there!
