From a magazine "HIGHLIGHTS FOR CHILDREN, February 1995
- an article by Candace Fleming P.32 & 33 "For Vinnie Ream, Abe
Lincoln Was A Model President". The article is about a young girl, aged
16, who sculpted a bust of President Abraham Lincoln. In fact she was the last
person to do so. Her sculpture stands in the Capitol's Great Rotunda. Why is
this story in the Newsletter? Because it was Congressman JAMES ROLLINS of
Missouri who introduced her to President Lincoln because Vinnie had begged him
to so she could sculpt his face.
Ed.Note: This ROLLINS Congressman comes from a famous
Missouri family and we will do an article about them soon.
