An interesting new book, small in price but big in value, is "Understanding Colonial Handwriting" a textbook compiled

Harriet Stryker-Rodda. #5647 - $4.50.

Genealogical Publishing Co.

1001 N. Calvert St.

Baltimore, MD 21202-3879

When we're lucky enough to find colonial records we often cannot read those original wills, deeds and court records. Ms Stryker-Rodda, after years of experience searching through those ancient records, teaches you how. She also provides a comparison of English and American handwriting of the period, explaining symbols and name short-forms. It's a great buy for those who actually get into the trenches and handle those dusty relics from our past.
