Further to my note in the Editorial letter (front
page) concerning my accident, on doctor's orders I was forbidden to type
anything for several months, but I waited as long as I could and then did a
page or two a day until the newsletter was finished. It is short 4 pages but
I'll make up for it in the December issue.
I know it seems as if we have an overdose of
southern RAWLIN(G)S and ROLLIN(G)S, but that is because so many of our subscribers
descend from the so-called southern R's. We'd love to put into the newspaper
Kansas Records, Washington state Records, Pennsylvania records, Oklahoma
records, Colorado & Ohio & even California records. See what you all
can do.
From Stan Rawlings, 1307 W.Broadway, Columbia, MO

Due to several years of research in Ohio so as to attempt
to discover the 26 children reported to have been born to EZEKIEL RAWLINGS and
his two wives. It is probably that some died in infancy or childhood, but we
have listed below 11 of than, so far as can be ascertained.
EZEKIEL was the son of MOSES Jr., and grandson of
MOSES Sr. who was killed by indians in 1787 in Kentucky.
1st wife: Almira McDonald, wham he married August
26, 1846, in Pickaway Co., Ohio.
Children: (not necessarily in birth order)
ALBERT, b. 1853
SCOTT, b. Aug. 23, 1855; d. Jan.9,1933, b. in Ohio, died in Kansas, m. Allene Spencer in May, 1882
ELIZABETH, b. 1857
HANNA, b. 1858
NANCY, b. 1859
JANE
LETITIA (LETTY), m. Sherman Tharp
LAURA, m. Mr. Waples
MILTON
WESLEY, b. 1852
DANIEL, b. 1842(?)
(it is possible some of these children are not Almira's
because, according to the
Pickaway Co. records and histories, she gave birth
to 9 children, while EZEKIEL's
2nd wife, Celia Ann McCarty, gave birth to 17
children.)
Celia survived EZEKIEL, who died in 1813 in the Raisin
River Massacre during the Battle of Ft. Meigs in the War of 1812.
Can anyone help us with this problem?
