JAMES F. "Jim" RAWLINGS, 67, a resident of Rochester (Washington) since 1959, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1992, in Capital Medical Center, Olympia. He was born Aug. 10, 1925, to WILLIAM and Lottie M. (Champlagne) RAWLINGS in Tacoma.

Mr. RAWLINGS was an Army veteran of World War II. He was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant on June 28, 1946, having served in Germany and central Europe. He was married to Shirley J. Burr on July 18, 1959, in Lebanon, Oregon.

Mr. RAWLINGS retired from the Thurston County Sheriff's Department after 23 years service as a deputy sheriff. He was president of the Washing State Law Enforcement and Fire Fighters organization, and the Tacoma Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed bowling and golf. Surviving Mr. RAWLINGS besides his wife are four sons, JIM of Maple Valley, CHUCK of Lacey, TIM of Kenton, and OTTIE of Renton; also two sisters, RUTH and ELIZABETH, both of Seattle; a brother, WILLIAM of St. Helens, Oregon; and six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Mr. RAWLINGS will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, in the Olympic Memorial Garden Chapel, Tumwater. The Rev. Steven Smeback and Thurston County Sheriff's will officiate.


In October '93 the Pendleton Co., KY, Historical and Genealogical Society held its first meeting at the Pendleton Co. Library in Falmouth. Some of the business concluded was meeting dates, expanding the historical and genealogical info in the library, and the possible issuance of a quarterly newsletter. Any of the R/RFHA subscribers who descend from MOSES RAWLINGS (1740-1787) might be interested in joining. Contact Clarita E. Stephen, Route 5, Box 280, Falmouth Kentucky 41040. Membership is $10 yr.

Correction: In the December Newsletter Queries note that Charlotte Kunold's great-grandfather's name was DAN not DANIEL. Also her grandfather's name was JAMES VEVERS not VERNON.
