R/RFHA Newsletter, March 1994                 p.2

Correction

Felix E. Luck sent in this correction to an item on P.49 of the December 1994 Newsletter. The husband of SARAH LELAND RAWLINS should not be Coleman Thompson...but THOMPSON COLEMAN. My error in copying.

He also noted that when subscribers write and ask for information they should be certain to include an SASE for the respondent to reply. This was in answer to the Editor's editorial letter in the December issue.

Dee and Ollie RAWLINS sent me xeroxed copy of the JOHN R. ROLLINS Book pub. in 1874. It has helped a half-dozen subscribers already in locating their ancestors. The copy they received as well as the one they sent me has 2 pages missing - #208 & 209. If anyone has a copy of that book in their possession, I would appreciate receiving a copy of those two pages to make our copy complete.

From Charles Co, MD Records

DANIEL RAWLINGS of Charles Co, in 1726 held a large estate both there and in Calvert Co. He left his "home plantation on St. Leonard's Creek" to youngest son DANIEL. I confirm unto my son-in-law, John Clare, and ELIZABETH, his wife, part of 'Elton Head Manor' called RAWLINGS' Choice, now occupied by said John and ELIZABETH Clare. To daughter ANNE RAWLINGS the north part of RAWLINGS' Choice, and five hundred acres of the same tract to son ISAAC RAWLINGS. To daughter MARY Hallway, Negroes. Son ISAAC and son-in-law John Clare, Executors."

DANIEL RAWLINGS Jr. of Calvert County, in 1748 named sons DANIEL and JOHN, and daughters NANCY and MARGARET. He held tract RAWLINGS' Choice "left me by my father." He bought also his brother ISAAC's lands.

A few years ago your Editor was watching a television show which told the story of some persons in Leavenworth, Kansas. As the interviewer spoke with one of the townspeople I could see in the background (which was a cemetery) a tombstone bearing the name CLARENCE ROLLINS. I contacted the New York office of the television show and they informed me the background was a Veteran's Cemetery in Leavenworth.

Any of our subscribers know of this CLARENCE ROLLINS?

Can anyone give us the names of the children of MOSES RAWLINGS Jr. and his wife Sally McCandlis? MOSES Jr. was the son of MOSES (1740-1787) who was killed by indians in Kentucky. We've had several requests for such information, and although I have it somewhere in the R/RFHA files I can't seem to be able to put my hands on it. Perhaps WILMA or DORIS or STAN RAWLINGS can send me an FGS. I'd appreciate it.
