Dear Cousins:
It's been a busy three months, with many inquiries
about our Association, which is most heartening. As usual, this means a lot of
correspondence as well, but those who write us are so happy to hear about such
a family organization that it is a joy not a chore.
First of all I'd like to thank those several
subscribers who sent me the pages 208 & 209 of the John R. Rollins book on
the New England R's. Much appreciated.
Second, on page 3 of the March newsletter which gave
some information from the Georgia records, I mentioned I had mislaid the name
of the contributor of that information and asked that he or she get in touch.
It was Robert H. Swain of 6510 Paleface Place, Charlotte, NC 28214-1536. Thanx,
Bob.
Lynn Rollins of Newberg, Oregon, sent us a
delightful postcard recently showing the family of his ancestors, the
Haughawouts who married into the ROLLINS family. Lynn tells us also of the
HAUGHAWOUT/ROLLINS reunion which will be held in Newberg, Oregon, July 23rd and
24th. Anyone interested in the ROLLINS connection can contact him at 27200 N.E.
Bell Road, Newberg, OR 97132. Or telephone him at (503)538-2978.
Another interesting bit of correspondence is from
Bill & Lorna Rawlins of Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada, one of our
subscribers. Bill & Lorna have been strong supporters and active workers in
the establishment and continuance of the Ontario Lion's Clubs' Camp Dorset, a
summer camp for those persons, young or old, who have difficulty arranging
vacation facilities due to their kidney failure and need for dialysis and other
treatment. What a great idea! I wonder if any of our other subscribers are
Lions or Lionesses who might think of such a project for their own club or
clubs. For information, write Wm. RAWLINGS, 512 Stanley St., Port Colborne, Ontario,
Canada L3K 3A6 (416) 834-9379.
Have a great summer, all of you.
