I. GREGORY RAWLINGS, Sr. came to Virginia and settled there before 1650. He had at least one son, GREGORY RAWLINGS Jr.

II. GREGORY RAWLINGS Jr. was granted land in Surry County, Virginia, on June 10, 1653. He had at least one son, JOHN RAWLINGS, Sr.

III. JOHN RAWLINGS Sr., lived in Surry County, VA. He died between March 6, 1673, and Feb. 1, 1674. His wife was named Elvin. They had 3 children: ELIZABETH, JOHN Jr., who was not of age in 1674, and MARY who was not of age in 1674.

IV. JOHN RAWLINGS Jr. married Mary Collier in 1677. He made his will in Surry Co., VA, on August 5, 1702. Mary Collier was a daughter of John Collier, and had brothers John and Joseph. Mary's father, John Collier, died in 1679. Children of JOHN and Mary (Collier) RAWLINGS Jr. were: ELIZABETH who married a Mr. Paulin; JOHN III who died circa 1763.; GREGORY who made his will Dec. 8, 1755 (his wife Hanna making her Aug. 27, 1757 in Sussex Co., VA. (Sussex was taken from Surry Co. in 1754).

V. GREGORY RAWLINGS and wife Hannah had the following children: JOHN, GREGORY Jr. who died young but md. Sarah (last name unknown) and made his will in 1768; RICHARD who married Mary (last name unknown) and he made his will May 4, 1794; and MARY who married a Mr. Manny; and ELIZABETH who married a Mr. Phillips.

VI. The above-named RICHARD who married Mary (last name unknown) had the following children: ANN who married a Mr. James, ELIZABETH who married a Mr. Manwarren; POLLY who married a Mr. Hedgewood; MARY who married a Mr. Harris; and RICHARD Jr. who married (1) Rebecca Weaver and (2) Martha Holt.

VII. RICHARD Jr. m. Rebecca Weaver Nov. 7, 1791, marriage recorded in Sussex Co., VA. He was made executor of his father's estate in Sussex Co. in 1794. He then bought land in Darlington Co., SC March 11, 1799, and after he moved there he changed the spelling of his name to ROLLINGS. His and Rebecca's children were: GREGORY who was b. ca 1793 in Virginia; LAWRENCE; and POLLY who married a Mucullars. RICHARD and his second wife Martha Holt in South Carolina, and in his will he mentions the three children they had; RICHARD III who married Ann Stansbury; JOHN T.FAYETIE b. 1824 who married Rebecca Large of Berlington, SC, and ANN. There could also have been a daughter ADELAIDE.

VIII. RICHARD Jr. and Rebecca's oldest son, GREGORY, became a Baptist minister. He preached and organized many churches for his faith in Horry, Darlington, Marlboro, Marion and Williamsburgh counties, SC. In May of 1870 his house burned and with it all his possessions. It must have been a shock because he died the following year, his wife following him 2 years later. He had married Martha (last name unknown) and she was living in the town of ROLLINSVILLE when she passed away. Their children were: RICHARD DAVID FRANCIS who married Luzaney Morris, LEWIS P. who married Margaret D. Goodson, ROBERT M., JAMES TRAVIS (1827-1840), and WILLIAM W. who married Mary Byrd.

IX. LEWIS P. (1820-1864)and Margaret, his wife, had the following children: RICHARD JETER (1847-1903) md. Martha Browning of Halifax Co., NC, June 23, 1867. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Their children were: WILLIAM BENJAMIN (1868-1942) who married three times and by these wives had LEWIS, HILDA, ALLAN, WILLIAM, MARGARET, JEAN and MARTHA.

LEWIS P.'s other children were ROXIE B. (1849-1884) who married Dr. James Culpepper and had children, OLLIE B. (1854-1887) md. Henrietta Revel and had children; and ALETHA BELLE OLIVA (1859-1926) md. Richard Q. Powell and had children.
