Season's Greetings,
cousins!
That time has rolled
around again when we've come to the end of another year of publishing our
Newsletter, the end of our 7th year! For those of you who were in on the
beginning, it's been a great ride, hasn't it? The membership stays pretty
steady at around 150, the information keeps coming in, and we get inquiries,
most of whom join with us. So I guess we're doing the right thing, which means
we'll be around a little longer, perhaps longer than some of us will be.
Speaking of such things,
you will note your membership renewal notice is enclosed. Those who have
already renewed for 1995 shouldn't receive one, but if by accident you do,
ignore it but drop me a line in case I've forgotten to note your renewal.
The George Schweitzer I
mention on P.42 with regard to a book on sources for Civil War Genealogical
research, has compiled the same sort of book for the War of 1812, the
Revolutionary War, and for such states as Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina,
Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The books are
inexpensive and in paperback; all of them may be ordered from him as follows:
Dr. George K. Schweitzer, Ph.D., Sc.D.
407 Regent Court
Knoxville, TN 37923
When I purchased my copy
it was $10. I would suggest you write a letter of inquiry concerning the book
or books you might want and send a legal size SASE for a free descriptive
leaflet on any or all of the books.
And speaking of source
books, I have both "The Complete Book of Immigrants 1607-1660" and
"The Complete etc. 1661-1699" by Peter Coldham which give detailed
lists from English sources of all immigrants to the New World. I have asked
Santa for the next in the series. Anyone wishing information from these books
need only write to me.
I hope everyone has a very merry Christmas, and the happiest of 1995's.
