Dear Cousins All....
Once again I've dilly-dallied and your December Newsletter is late. Perhaps we should have considered different months for publication as WE began this effort such as January, April, July and November. Ah well ... I'll think about. It would be better if I'd get on the stick and at least write it up in November when I'm not so rushed. Another New Year's Resolution to make!!!
We've had another good year of information-gathering and memberships. We have the same number at the close of this year (129) as we had in 1991. We lost some members but gained an equal number. I hope all of you will resubscribe for 1993. You will note a renewal notice enclosed. Those of you who have already renewed shouldn't receive one, but if perchance you do, just ignore it.
One of our subscribers recently suggested that if any of you solve your particular genealogical mystery, let us know so we can celebrate with you. I know has overjoyed our family would be if we could get east our "mysterious James", as we call hint, who seemed to pop up out of the ground full grown. This JAMES RAWLINS is the one who, according to the Illinois census, was born in Virginia in 1777, married Elizabeth Ruark ca 1801, emigrated to Ohio with the Ruark party ca 1802, then went on to Illinois in 1816. We believe he belongs to the Spotsylvania County, Virginia, family because of unbelievable physical resemblance and peculiarities, and because of the staunch Methodism of generations. Every year we pray that the answer will come as to who were his parents. Perhaps 1993 will be the year we'll find our answer.
Thank you all for making the newsletter whatever success it is. Without your contributions of information it wouldn't even exist. So keep up the good work. It's my great pleasure to wish you all the happiest of holiday seasons, and the most prosperous of New Years.
