P.93 - ASAHEL RAWLINGS settled at what was afterwards called Dallas by or before 1810. He also had special permission to live in the Cherokee Nation. He brought his wife and family with him. ASAHEL was the son of a Revolutionary soldier. Many of his brothers and sisters followed him into the section and numbers of Hamilton County people are descended from this RAWLINGS FAMILY.
P.110 - Early property holders in Hamilton County were
A.M. RAWLINGS, ASAHEL RAWLINGS and D.R. RAWLINGS. (A.M. stands for AARON
MARSHAL and D.R. stands for DANIEL RITCHIE. These are three brothers, sons of
ASAHEL Sr.)
p.189 - ASAHEL RAWLINGS and Lt. REZIN RAWLINGS, Cannon's
Co., 1st Tennessee Volunteers, Cherokee War, June 27, 1837. (Did they join up, muster out, or die on that
date?)
P.246 - Mr. and Mrs. REZIN RAWLINGS and HARRIET RAWLINGS
were founders of the Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga June 21, 1840.
P.250 - PHOEBE THURMAN RAWLINGS buried in Jackson's
Cemetery in Hamilton Co., TN (June 25, 1786-Aug. 17, 1810)
P.289 - AARON M. RAWLINGS, Commissioner of Ross' Landing
and Chattanooga, son of ASAHEL RAWLINGS Sr. and Margaret (Rezin) RAWLINGS, was
born in Greene Co., TN, about 1790. He died in Memphis, TN Friday Dec. 8, 1843.
He moved to Hamilton County about 1820. His wife preceded him in death, and he
leaves several children.
P.313 - MARY KENNEDY RAWLINGS, daughter of REZIN RAWLINGS,
married Robert McKinley Hoak in Rhea County, TN March 22, 1831. MARY was born
Apr.1, 1813, and died Dec. 4, 1868.
P.319 -- ASAHEL RAWLINGS, born about 1778, was one of the
earliest citizens of Hamilton Co. He was the first of a large family to move to
the section and was followed by numerous brothers, sisters and other
kinspeople. He was the son of ASAHEL and Margaret (Rezin) RAWLINGS of Greene
Go., TN. He moved to this section by 1810, as the tomb of his wife is marked
with that date. He married Phoebe Thurman, daughter of Philip Thurman. Their
children were: PHILIP THURMAN RAWLINGS, who lived in Rhea County... and ASAHEL
RAWLINGS III.

On P.251 “Fauquier Co., Bicentennial Committee"
publication ... states that Eshton (RAWLINGSDALE or Flint Hill) as part of
Pres. George Washington's estate, and which was deeded to JOHN DOUGLASS
RAWLINGS, inherited by JOHN WILL RAWLINGS, near Rectortown, Fauquier Co., VA.
This is not the Douglass family of Albermarle Co., VA, but there may be some
connection. Anyone like to look into that?
