Here is
the family listing for JOHN ASBURY RAWLINGS and SARAH MILLER RAWLINGS who
settled at Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas. He is the son of JAMES and Rachel
(Lemmon) RAWLINGS of Edina, Knox County, Missouri. JAMES was the son of EZEKIEL
and Nancy (Curry) RAWLINGS of Pendleton County, Kentucky ... EZEKIEL being the
son of MOSES (1740-1787) killed by indians in Kentucky.
I began
this research in 1988 on the children of JOHN ASBURY and SARAH. It was so easy
and every missing part just seemed to fall into place until I found living
descendants, and lots of them. That's what's so rewarding about family
research.
I was
able to locate a living descendant, Thelma Engler, who resides at a retirement
home at Fayetteville, Arkansas. Thelma had the old JOHN ASBURY and SARAH
RAWLINGS family bible. THELMA is now 86 years old and was surprised and
delighted about the RAWLINGS information I compiled and sent to her. The dates
of births were recorded in the bible but the deaths were not. I was able to
secure some of the death records from death certificates and the Fairlawn and
Eastside Cemetery records. I still have a way to go but I have some good
sources Thelma gave me to contact.
