Drafts ware
resorted to in order to fill the quota for Ohio, and a number of citizens in
Warren County ware drafted. The troubles started at the Shakers Union Village
because of their refusal to perform military service.
June
1,1812-Richard McNemar and SAMUEL ROLLINS see the Governor
regarding matters of the believers.
Sept.
1813-On the 7th or 8th seven of the brethren are drafted to
join the Northwestern Army, required to go to Lebanon to Maj. Fry’s'
detachment. They are marched there under guard, but later released to return
home.
Oct. l-Drafted
brethren again to Lebanon under guard, treated as deserters.
Nov. 24-Brethren
arrive hone.
