The
Rawlin(g)s Rollin(g)s Family History Association
Vol. 3, No. 1 March
1990
Dear Cousins:
We begin
a new year of THE RAWLIN(G)S/ROLLIN(G)S FAMILY HISTORY ASSOCIATION and the last
decade of the 20th Century. Quite an occasion. I hope the '90's will bring you
all health, wealth and happiness, but most of all the solving of all of your
genealogical puzzles. We are grateful and pleased that some of you have been
able to dig deeper among your "roots" and trust that additional
information we might receive in the future will help those who have not yet
had their questions answered to their satisfaction. Just stick with us and it
might happen!
Our
membership is now up to 114, but our roster was at 144. I hope those missing 30
will decide to re-subscribe. If sane of those 30 are satisfied with the
information they now have and don't feel they need our help any longer, perhaps
they might consider continuing their subscription so that others can be helped
as they were. Every little bit helps. We play it pretty close, expense-wise,
and although I dislike doing it, those who have not subscribed for 1990 by the
first of June will be deleted from the roster.
And
speaking of memberships, in re-typing the roster I discovered we have
representatives in every state of the Union and Canada except 9 - Louisiana,
Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, North and South Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont
and Wyoming. If you know any R's in those states, drop them a note and tell
them about the Association. Maybe they'd like to join with us.
I want to
thank so many of you who sent me lovely Christmas cards, and were concerned
that the earthquake had shaken us up here in Carmichael. Although my hanging
plants and chandeliers swung a bit, and the motion made me a little seasick, we
in Sacramento County escaped damage. We are one of the few places in California
that is not situated on a fault, for which we thank our lucky stars. But I was
touched by your concern.
You will
note the 1989 Index is included with this Newsletter, the reason for it being a
little more expensive to mail. But everyone seems to like the index. I know it certainly helps me locate a name
in a hurry.
An
explanation about the odd figure shown as "Dues/Subs" in the
Financial Report on P. 2. Five of our members paid their 1990 dues in early
December, and not knowing we were going to raise it, sent checques for $5.00.
When they received the December '89 Newsletter they sent the additional $2.50.
Their original $5.00 had been incorporated in the December '89 receipt figures.
Keep your
queries and information coming. And Happy 1990.
