The
Montgomery County Rawlins (Rawlings) and Their Descent From Richard Rawlins
of Anne Arundel County
John
Rawlins (c1690-1727), son of Richard Rawlins of Anne
Arundel County, Maryland married Eleanor Ridgely, daughter of William Ridgely. John
Rawlins., son of John and Eleanor Rawlins was born in Anne
Arundel County in 1718. John married Anna Sophia (surname unknown) and
had at least 4 children; John, William, Elizabeth and Mary.
About 1748, John Rawlins and his family moved to Frederick County in the
vicinity of Dawsonville which is now located in Montgomery County, Here, John
was one of the original justices of Frederick County. John Rawlins died
in 1756.
William
Rawlins, son of John, probably died young, moved from the
area or gave up his inheritance. No records were found on William after
1756.
The Rawlins
family of Montgomery County had a close association with the Hays family. There
were numerous marriages between these two families over several generations.
John
Rawlins, son of John, married Mary Hays, daughter of
Jeremiah Hays and had 7 children. Thomas, the oldest son married
Elizabeth Fulks. They had 6 children, 3 sons and 3 daughters.
John
Rawlins, brother of Thomas, married his first cousin Ann
Hays, daughter of Charles Hays and Elizabeth Rawlins. They had 7
children.
