R/RFHA Newsletter September 1989                                  P.3

From Beverly Allan, 1162 W. Monterey, Stockton, CA 95204

Correction to the letter from WILLIAM L. RAWLINGS, grandson of Col. MOSES RAWLINGS (1745-1809) which appeared in the Baltimore Sun in 1905 (see P.13 of June/89 Newsletter). In the letter, WILLIAM stated that COL. RAWLINGS had a brother ISAAC, who was a Lieutenant in the Revolutionary War. There was a Lieutenant ISAAC RAWLINGS who served in the American Revolutionary forces from Maryland, but he was not the brother of Col. MOSES.

Note from Ed Wiessing, Spc.4

On the item in the June/89 Newsletter concerning Gen. MOSES MARSHALL RAWLINGS: His research has revealed that the General achieved his rank through years of service in the Illinois State Militia, but he was relieved of his command because of his absence while traveling in Europe.

Ed also wanted to point out that the Editor had erred in naming him a descendant of NATHAN RAWLINGS (1750-1821) when in fact he is a descendant of NATHAN'S Brother MOSES (1740-1787). Sorry, Ed: I knew that.
