"A bible record of the family of NATHAN RAWLINGS turned up the other day and I am sending it to you and it may be the Dr. Kirkwood you mentioned would like to have it. Also a clipping was loaned to me telling of the death of JOHN T. RAWLINGS, 83, of Petersburg, Illinois, on July 9, 1956. I might add this Bible record came through my Douglass cousins and as you will note, ADELINE RAWLINGS married William J. Douglass. (Ed. note: This NATHAN is son of NATHAN, the Revolutionary War Hero, 1750-1821)

NATHAN III, b. May 5, 1845; d. about 1908. He married Martha Cogdal. Their son, JOHN T. of Petersburg, Illinois, died Monday, July 9, 1956, at Tullula, Ill. JOHN was born Nov. 22, 1872, in Menard County, Ill. He married Anna Elmore Sept. 26, 1900, in Petersburg. Surviving are his wife, sons EMORY and LYNN, both of Petersburg... three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a brother ROY of Wisconsin, a sister MRS. LULY GUNSON of Bedford, Iowa. A son, CLARK, preceded him in death."

"One of SCOTT RAWLINGS' grandsons died in California in April of this year. He had become very interested in his ancestors and we had been corresponding regularly for some months before he died. He had three outstanding sons and they are a credit to the name of RAWLINGS. These children were born in Lincoln, Nebraska, but the family moved West a few years ago. FLOYD RAWLINGS died in Redlands, California."
