Season's Greetings, Cousins All!
Once again
my intentions were to see to it you all had your Newsletters before Christmas,
but once again I'm close to missing the mark. I hope most of you do receive it
by Saturday, the 23rd, so that I may wish you the merriest of Holidays and the
happiest and most prosperous of New Years.
I think
we've had a good year this year. The information keeps caning in at a goodly
rate...letters keep arriving to inquire about the organization...& we
continue to enroll a few memberships per month. We're now up to 149, not counting
the 8 societies arid libraries to whom we send "freebies", and from
whom we are receiving most of the inquiries, by the way. I hope that
subscribers are having same of their genealogical puzzles solved and questions
answered, and are also able to help others. These
RAWLIN(G)S-ROLLIN(G)S-ROLLENS-RALLINGS et al are a wondrous bunch!
A few of
our members have already subscribed for 1990, for which I thank them. Those who
haven't will find a renewal slip enclosed. You will notice that I have had to
raise the price to $7.50 per year due to the proposed postage raise in 1990
plus the fact that the cost of printing has gone up as wall. When we began in
1988 it was 4¢ per page, now it's 7¢ per page. It would be marvelous if we had our own
copier but that's a dream! I trust you will not consider $7.50 a year too much.
If you belong to any other genealogical societies you know they charge a lot
more than that for their quarterlies, although sane may be 25 or 30 pages and
on slick paper. We have so much material in our files now which has been sent
in by all of you that we could do a 25 or 30 page Newsletter, too, except for
the cost. The postage is not such a problem because a couple of our members
regularly donate stamps, and now that I am a Senior Citizen there are no bank
charges on our account.
This
coming year I will be submitting information about our newsletter to many
organizations across the country and in Canada, which should bring new
membership. I am also seeking outlets in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland,
where most of our R's come from. I also will have the 1989 index ready for the
March 1990 issue.
So we'll
keep up the good work and I'll look forward to welcoming you all back in 1990.
My best to you all.
